A quality clash. Is IPL to be blamed for that...?

Indian Premier League which is famously abbreviated as IPL is the one, which drives many youngsters crazy in particular seasons. Almost from all important regions in the country there is a team, and so, people who have a good passion towards cricket get a team to support. There are two ways in which people support IPL teams. Certain groups support teams of their regions and certain groups support teams in which their icon player plays currently. Cricket fans with a higher devotion to the game pass their time of watching the match with a little bit of heat by cheering and shouting.
Here is an incident where something went wrong. Still it is puzzling whether IPL can be blamed or not for everything which happened . I’m an undergraduate student and in my college people from all over India stay and study. This happened in one of the hostels within our campus premises. There are a handful amount of students from each state which implicitly means each and every team in IPL has got fans in my college. We shall get to know about the match timings, statistics, etc. on a particular day of an IPL season simply by listening to the roars from different gangs of students.
The story goes this way. Once there was a match between two top teams in IPL. These two teams (*** and **) have the maximum number of fans in my college. The match was very interesting with highs and lows for both teams at different occasions. That was a tuff match and worthy of watching. Finally, only one team has to be announced as a winner. And the match got over late in the night (as it was a Day/Night match). Then the trouble began.
Supporters of one team first praised their team and particular players who performed well on that day. And as a couple of minutes passed away, the heat started climbing up. The rival supporters were quiet and were drowned in distress as their favourite team has lost the match. Slowly, some of the crooked fans of the winning team uttered dirty slogans which were like slightly abusing the other team and its skipper. And their gang mates and friends started rejoicing themselves by screaming such nasty jingles repeatedly. Now, the heat around got ready for a burst as the sound from these rejoicing groups reached the other end. First, students started fighting with words and after a few seconds they broke non-violence. Bangs with weapons like cricket bats, stumps, etc. were exchanged. There was blood all over like a major riot. People out there lost a few teeth, broke and have themselves broken a few bones and all that must have happened in a quality massacre happened. The sound alarmed the wardens and security people and they came to control the situation. But their negotiation failed and they themselves got hurt in the peace-making process. Many were immediately hospitalized and that day there were about 14 students admitted in the ICU. Police cases were been filed. Luckily, no deaths were reported and people who were in critical stages had their chance of life. Later, a handful of people were suspended.
I was a good fan of cricket too. But from that day of the clash, one thing struck my mind. At last, this IPL, in some way or the other, divides people and make them bitter enemies. Of course, IPL matches can’t be blamed for everything that had happened and the people who support teams must have acted sensibly. Still there was a wild clash involving blood only because of IPL. My respects and awe towards IPL reduced drastically from that day. As a reader, please comment on this issue…
