Hindu Monk and his Holy Medicine

After his death, a Hindu monk went to Yamaloka on his judgment day. Evaluated on his reserves of good and bad deeds, he was ordered to be sent to Hell. Shocked terribly, he argued with the executives there but his explanations could not broker an escape. He wanted a fair trial with the God himself to explain his stand before the judgment was executed. Luckily, his demand was heard heard after quite a few arguments.
He was escorted to the God's palace.
God thundered, "Why are you here? Judgments were written unbiased and to the fairest possible extent. You shall not be pardoned, whatsoever may be your concern. Anyhow, I will hear how may you try persuading me".
Saluting the God, the monk started, “Lord, I was a hermit who lived alongside the serene valleys of Vindhyas. I followed my duties of worshiping you and serving the ill-trodden till my last breath. With my education on human diseases and medicines, I had prolonged the lifetimes of many. I foresaw that all human activities had made to keep the diseases on the rise.  I created a clan of students to continue the services to mankind after me. Never had I thought in mind of despise or got tiresome during the due course of my journey as a physician”.
God interrupted whilst seeing his balance sheet, “Your mind was sincere and you served from your heart. But you had made people to suffer pain in the name of treatment. You have made blood to spill and endured with lots of discomfort. I would have considered if there were results worthy of all these torments. But it seems you have saved a meager number of people than you have treated. Do you have reasons?”
“Yes my Lord. I agree. I could not save many of whom I treated. I couldn’t make people eat medicines due to their poor taste. People accept pain for the uneasiness of taking these medicines by which the problem aggravates beyond repair. I would beg you a chance of getting my same life back again to refurbish my accounts here. But please give me a boon by making all medicines taste good. In that case, I shall bring cent percent results on treatments.”
“Hmmm. You speak for your mankind with the will I hear from you. But I cannot offer you such a boon. Because, having medicines with pleasant taste, humans will not realize their importance. Moreover, this will also lead to a tremendous imbalance in the numbers of lives and deaths. Anyhow, to appreciate your sincerity towards your fellow beings, I shall give you a boon. Out of what you have learnt, you select one effective medicine for which I shall make it with no taste and no color.”
The monk selected a medicine. It was made divine with the touch of God but had no smell, no color, no taste. At the end of the trial, he was given another chance of birth as a physician. He made efficient use of that particular medicine, practiced on his patients with different mixes and proportions. He advised people to have it more in order to be less disease prone. He finished his life satisfactorily as the first physician to having known the holiness of that godly medicine…
That monk was none other than… Sorry it happened many thousands of years before and we don’t have that in the records. But we still know the medicine he served. The medicine was nothing other than… Water. Please Drink Water!!! <End of Fiction>
