Dayanidhi Maran resigns from the union cabinet.
Dayanidhi Maran had handled two ministries under the reign of Congress namely the department of Telecommunications and the department of Textiles. He was named the minister of Textiles, as he was been asked to hand over the department of Telecommunications to A.Raja, who is behind the bars now for involving in corruption and incurring a massive loss of 1.7 lakh crores to the national treasury, by the DMK leader M.Karunanidhi. The reason for why M.Karunanidhi arranged for this shift of ministries is very evident from the arrest of A.Raja.
CBI enquires brought into light the true faces of A.Raja and Kanimozhi (the daughter of the DMK leader M.Karunanidhi) in the 2-G scam and punishments were been appropriately sought. Now, the depth of the investigations has uprooted Dayanidhi Maran’s part of foul play in the scam. Today (7/7/2011) Maran gave his resignation letter to the prime minister and left his office after being accused guilty.
Investigations show that Dayanidhi Maran had forced C.Sivasankaran, the owner of Aircel, to sell his company to a Malaysia-based telecom giant named Maxis. As he was the Telecommunication minister by then, he achieved his stake by delaying the issue of licenses purposefully to Aircel. Maxim, in turn invested on Sun DTH a huge amount of 675 crores of rupees. Sun DTH is a company owned by Kalanidhi Maran, who is the elder brother of Dayanidhi Maran. But now it is known that Maxim had paid much more than the market price and investigators suspect that, this extra money might be to bribe Maran brothers, for the Malaysian company to enter the Indian market.
This made Maran’s position in the cabinet doubtful and eventually, he resigned. Many political observers say that his resignation was expected much before. CBI‘s detailed investigations may be the reason. CBI was to take things light as the government shall favour Maran but Supreme Court’s was very vigil on this. And finally, truth is out now…
